Do lives from server1 - server15 count towards your genetic fitness score?

OOOH, that's my sign! It is my form of protest against the posse system as opposed to bobo's form of 'protest'. Took an entire life but it seems it was worth it if many people saw it. I will probably make another one soon, it was a lot of fun.

Of course feel free to make signs like this on your own, next time the gamedev logs in for a test life he will be surprised.

I like this form of protest. Much better than killing everyone you see and glorifying yourself.

TL;DR some amount of tutorial for posse and murder is required if absolutely no moderators will be introduced to punish griefing. Non-veteran players have to be taught posse during genocide events and seem convinced cursing will make the baddies go away now instead of just to donkeytown after they actually die(on that one account hmm) which is a sign of some kind of failure somewhere. I was trying to explain posse to someone when she got shot, right after she frantically told me "cursing isn't working!"

I agree with some amount of tutorial for the killing system, but like the food changes, players will eventually adapt, even if it takes a month or two. Cursing isn't a permanent ban, and multiple accounts can be used to circumvent this.

Jason doesn't know how to solve some issues in the game, so he experiments on the player-base with ideas he gets from said players. After making killing impossible he looked towards the community for a solution as he had none. One of those ideas being the current killing system today which was suggested by Strong-force.

I think for the foreseeable future well see small fixes, more experiments to the killing system, and little to no big content for the game.

Thats based off what ive seen in the past two months for updates, as well as quotes Jason has made himself on the forums. If you wanna see those quotes i can link em just ask.

I would like to see some more content. I started playing last year in December, and there has been pretty much nothing since then. (almost 6 months!) There was the leadership system, feast table, pumpkin pie, and wine, but after that, mostly fixes and quality of life changes (bottle storage, table fixes, curved tracks, painted walls, killing changes, food changes, family iron/well/homeland system, etc.)

These changes were good, but I'd like to see a balance between content and fixes/tweaks in the future (too much content and it might be buggy, too many fixes and the game does not really progress).

When are we gonna get that atomic-powered robot? tongue

I say try it! Sounds like a good idea, but we'll have to see how it works.

Ok i take it back this is the second time today I've encountered bobo and I've played three lives. the first time him and his gang were just sneaking around ruining engines and the second time they did the murder posse gambit. they trick players who haven't learned the posse system into following them and then murder them far away from town so they can't get help.

this is not fun drama interactions, this is not intriguing gameplay, there is literally nothing at all we can do about bobo and his squad. Literally nothing. They're operating in such a way that it's nearly impossible to curse them for greifing and the playerbase absolutely cannot do anything about them.

He seems to be more active. I've decided to take a break from OHOL for a bit because of this, and I'm playing 2HOL (where there is no murder and griefers/trolls can get banned). Save your curses for Bobo and his gang. He will go to Donkey Town eventually, and if he gets multiple accounts, keep cursing.

1588627530.81 nid:2966695 fam:4 mom:11 bb:6 plr:48 eve:1 avAge:27.76

I.e., total pop of 48, with 6 babies and 11 moms.  That's 0.54 bb per mom, and 8 adults per baby (0.125 bb per adult).

I currently have the max BB/mom ratio set to 2.0, and the max bb per adult set to 2.0.

Those numbers are probably STILL way too high, but it only comes into affect after a server restart.

I will turn them both down to 1.0 now, and we'll see how the next restart feels.

There should be 2x as many Eves as usual.

Thanks for this change!

Found a horse in a dead town I was in earlier (wouldn't be surprised if was the gang, they hit at least one other town) Was heading towards gingers when I ran across some other people from my fam, also on horses. It had been a while, so I led them back and there were others already. I guess half the town fled and then came back. A jungle person was there and through several paper rewrites she explained that her town got hit as well.

That was me. I ran from the brown town that Bobo hit and ended up finding the Kilian town (where I was previously killed by Bobo's gang).

I was Liam. sad I should have known something was wrong when he pulled me off to the side to recruit me. Later, I respawned in the brown town, and heard mass murder. I knew it was him, so I ran as far as I could.

Here's more evidence for you, Spoonwood:
starvation
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=6182988

I had to abandon so many babies, because we did not have enough food. We didn't have a well when I was born, we didn't have iron, and we didn't have a forge. I was generation 9! I ended up only keeping two kids (both girls of course). At one point, babies were popping out of me every ten seconds, and they did not use /DIE. I told my kids to say /DIE, but some wanted to play.

Also, there was a bear griefer who brought three bears to the town. Fortunately we killed the bears, but as I was running away from one, I had a baby, who was a NEW player. He was eaten by the bear.

I don't like to abandon babies, especially new players.

YES!!!! This is a HUGE problem. I also kept spawning as an Eve. I made a go of it, but could find hardly any food while trying to raise 11 children as a nomad. I finally found an abandoned town after menopause with my one surviving daughter. I frickin went from 100 to 460 on the gene scoreboard. NOT WORTH IT! To top it off, one of my grandkids obviously poked awake all the nearby bears... So, all that for nothing.

1.) It's too hard to start as an Eve with no food, no water.
2.) It's too easy to grief-to-death an entire family.

Yes, same thing happened to me first time I played Eve. Second time I played Eve I was lucky that the town survived for about 30 generations.

Eve attempt #2. Seems like Eves keep dying. Found an abandoned well this time, but iron veins were sunken (oh no). And I named one of my kids "Alontae Balasa" big_smile

One big concern is the lack of wild resources (I am reiterating other posts here). This is a really big issue for Eves.

I played my first Eve today, Eve Balasa. http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=6166869 I was a lucky Eve, because I had assistance from a lady who gave me a horse full of carrots and also all her clothes, including a backpack with a knife. Thanks a lot! smile I also had less than ten kids (not including SIDS babies) which meant that I could feed everyone. However, food was tight so I did not make it the top priority to feed my kids. One starved because she got lost, and twins starved because I got old and didn't want to waste food. I am very sorry, I really don't like to let kids starve, but you have to make hard choices sometimes (gotta let other people eat, too).

The second generation was really good (all my kids). They made helpful contributions to the camp. The generations after that seemed to get worse and worse. One of my grandchildren kept picking the last carrots, even though I told her to stop, so I cursed her. I looked at the family tree after I died, and the following generations seemed to be really bad. Lots of people starved. I saw one person who killed her own kid, another guy killed two of her kids, and she starved the rest that weren't SIDS babies. http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=6167104 So much for a game about parenting (although this was due to the player's actions, not the nature of the game). Someone brought a bear that ate almost everyone. Seems like griefers killed my family sad

In hindsight, I probably settled in a bad spot. While exploring (looking for milkweed and burdock), I found a land rich in resources maybe 100-200 tiles west of the camp. One of the iron mines that we had was already tapped (if you know a possible reason, please explain this). There were ponds and clay nearby, but the green biome was pretty empty.

Question Time:

1. How high of a gene score do you need to spawn as an Eve? I think my gene score was 42.5 when I spawned as an Eve.
2. With the current version of the game, are only four families are allowed? So Eves only spawn once a family or multiple families have died out?
3. Can Eves have babies anywhere outside other families' homelands until they make a well site?

Another Random Bonus Question: How long does it take for the color to fade away from characters in the family tree?

Tips and tricks/advice for playing Eves would be much appreciated.

Does anyone have data about how the server population changes over time? I'd like to know the peak and off-peak times of the main server. Even better would be the population of the tutorial area, if that's possible.

small eve camp test

So, I played two lives in a row. I didn't manage to get a horse, but the cell I spawned in on the second life was right above the first one (good news!) I set up a small camp and used the "go north/south" signs + skewers -> letter stock to make this sign. I haven't done anything for the bell yet, but it's a start.

I also raided a couple of other tutorial cells where people had forged tools and escaped.

I mean you can see on the map, the point is to be close to the tutorial and collect those resources, doesn't matter which tutorial area
but the times of that are gone, I remember last time I plaid in such a town, it was like 400 away from tut, was quite nice and I found out very late in that life that we are close, we got some doors and iron for free, was quite fun

if it's 5 mill then you would need 10k routes on airplane, that's unsustainable, your town dies out from time to time so you won't get back there

even getting out of the room is hard to predict where you land, I don't think is possible now

I'm not trying to build a tutorial town, just a bell tower and a small solo camp to produce food and things to make the bell tower next to the tutorial area. I want to build a bell tower next to the tutorial area because a) it is a fun way of pushing the limits of the game and b) it would be so funny to see a bell arrow pointing 5.4 million tiles east. tongue

#19 Re: Main Forum » I'm looking for a mod that shows world coordinates » 2020-04-24 03:43:01

Yeah, I couldn't find my tutorial Eves in the logs. I did find my grave on OneMap from a tutorial life in which I made a cart, some tools, and started to build a well. It's at (5400280, 640) which is 16 cells away from the south end of the tutorial block.

- When players play a tutorial life, does the game spawn them in the cell directly north or south (or neither) of the last player who played a tutorial life?

I'm thinking about different ways to approach the problem of getting to the well with enough time to do SOMETHING before I die. I have a couple of tools stashed there. Right now it seems like a "double life horse" strategy is the best. I would break out, get a horse, park it, then start a new tutorial run, break out, and pick up the horse to travel back to the well site. Since it is so close to the south end of the tutorial block, I will always find the well site by going south (and cycling back north if I find empty wilderness).  But, this depends on how tutorial cell spawning works. I can't pick up my horse if I spawn 5000 tiles north or south of my last tutorial run.

Also, how do you spawn as twins in a tutorial cell?

Has someone made a mod that shows world coordinates in-game? (coordinates relative to the center of the map)

I am planning on building a bell tower near the tutorial cells. tongue

#21 Re: Main Forum » Tutorial (not suggestion about how to change it) » 2020-04-23 19:04:56

According to OneMap, the tutorial cells start at (5400000, 0) and go north to (5400000, 10400). Each tutorial cell is 40 tiles north or south of another one, along the y-axis.

10400/40 = 260, so there are 260 tutorial cells, which makes sense because the capacity of bigserver2 is 260 players. http://onehouronelife.com/reflector/ser … ion=report
I guess there are enough tutorial cells in case the server reaches max capacity from everyone playing the tutorial.

Just to clarify, new cells spawn on top of old unused cells, right? (the game doesn't generate new cells above the existing block) I assume this because there are exactly 260 cells. I hope so, because it would be very hard to make a bell tower if new tutorial cells kept spawning north. You would spawn further and further away from the bell tower camp.

#22 Re: Main Forum » Tutorial (not suggestion about how to change it) » 2020-04-23 14:55:31

So, there is a limited number of tutorial cells? And new ones are created right before the player joins, on top of old ones.
Do you know how many tutorial cells there are?

I will try this. Seems like a good idea. Thank you!

#24 Re: Main Forum » Tutorial (not suggestion about how to change it) » 2020-04-23 04:27:04

So, if you built a bell tower in the tutorial area and rang it, people would see an arrow pointing 5.4 million tiles west?
And you can trigger the apocalypse from the tutorial area if you collaborate with someone to build an endtower. Seems like a good way to avoid people breaking your tower.

Is the world generated as players explore it? And when you spawn in the tutorial area, does the game create a new tutorial room?

I heard that you could break out of the tutorial room, so I played the tutorial and successfully broke out.

I met someone else who was playing the tutorial to learn smithing, and taught them how to make iron, but they died of old age (I brought my axe and shovel to break into their tutorial room).

Questions:
1. Do all tutorial players play on the same server?
2. Is the tutorial area located in a faraway location on the main server? Or is there a dedicated server for tutorials only?
3. I noticed some tutorial rooms had cracked adobe walls, but some did not. Why?
4. Can you build a bell tower in the tutorial area over many tutorial lives?
5. Can you hypothetically build an endtower by finding other players and killing them (luring them to Dark Nosaj first) over multiple tutorial lives? This would be ridiculous and ridiculously difficult, but is it possible?
6. Can you spawn as twins in the tutorial?
7. Is there anything east or west of the tutorial rooms?

Random Bonus Question: Can you curse yourself?

Thanks if you answer the questions. I'm a very curious person.
