Generations of people can have their DNA to make a boost in productivity so there is a good reason to follow and learn your ancestors roles. Maybe rolling over the players name shows you their role. Role helps people get into the game, you can always turn off the tips but it can help people focus on just being successful at something versus overwhelmed.

This could be a gateway to money as well.

A little more thought..

People could work on tasks, essentially a chain of objectives that typically includes creating a variation of items and perhaps it suggests placing them smartly around other resources. A downside might be that It'll make the tech tree go faster so counteract it with roles only being assumable if someone has already figured out how to do something that then the role can be passed down through apprentices so things can be forgotten.

You can always just do it on your own.

It would be really nice if there were some prebuilt roles in the game to help new people out. I love the concept of OneHourOneLife but do not have the time to learn every damn thing to click and do. It made me think that yes the tutorial is nice but it would be even better if you could also be guided in the real game beyond the tech tree. "/roles" tells you to be a hunter, gatherer, baker. Eve can switch roles to help them find what they want to work on at that moment. Eve role, find a home, gather some food, build a fire, etc. Others could start a baker role or the game could know there is a baker within X tiles so propose baker apprentice role where people help out.

Use arrows to direct people to the next step while they are in a role. Make the game easier and it'll be more fun and accessible.
