Thanks for the links, wondible.  I tried both of the modded clients.  OneLife+ says I have to download the update with the unmodded client first, and the other one complains "Version Mismatch:  Client 240 -- Server 452984831".  I even tried downloading via Steam but it says the platform is not supported.  I'm wondering at this point if anyone is able to play the game using the Linux client.  Is there a way to contact Jason directly?

Everything in that directory is owned by my user and writable, so I don't think it's permissions.  Where can I go to download version 238/239 manually?  The download link in the most recent email only has 217.

Finally got the program running on my 64-bit Ubuntu Linux 18.04 dual-monitor system in windowed mode.  But when I login, it says "Please download the latest version".  I'm running v217 which seems to be the latest version available from my download page.

The log says this:

L4 | Mon Jun 10 21:25:23 2019 (214 ms) | general | OneLife client v217 (binV=216, dataV=217) starting up

Is the problem maybe that binV=216?  Do I have to compile from source?  The game looks awesome and I'd love to play it but I'm starting to get discouraged.
