I just now updated using ./pullAndBuildLatest and then ran the game using terminal command. It opened, I clicked log in, it updated all the caches, then it found a new update and made me log in again, only to get to the "Waiting to be born" screen.  I can hear all the sound effects of being born, baby crying, foot steps and actions of mother, baby starving, and eventually baby death.  However nothing is actually on screen besides "Waiting to be born"...  Let me know what info you need.

Update: I have tried to run ./pullAndBuildLatest multiple times and restarted the game...  now it doesn't get stuck on the waiting to be born screen, it simply just kills the game completely...

I am running a GeForce gtx 960, but with the nvidia drivers on ubuntu instead of the default Nouveau graphics drivers...  Not sure if this is what is causing the issue but I am not really super interested in reverting because it is very fragile and what I have works for everything else on my PC and don't want to run back into the issues that i had with it before.  16GB Ram, intel i7 processor..  Not really elements to present issues with running the game...  I was fully capable of running it before (I don't remember what version.)  My next best idea is to remove the game files completely and try again...
