Lina Tarr was a fairly stable player, raised three children, two daughters and a son. She was too much of a baby cannon to do much during adulthood, but she organized things around town and clothed her kids and grandkids. But then she saw her grandson murdered. It changed her. She took a crown blank and turned it into a carrot crown, and then she ran. She took a basket of pies and followed to road as far north as it would take her... then she kept going north. When she started getting close to her final destination, she randomly stacked flat rocks, took clay out of pits, and left other clues that a person had come this way. Then she found a green meadow and ended her days in Edenic bliss.
Lina Tarr died with an apron, knife, pack and crown. Those who wish to tempt fate in Bell Town might want to follow her path.
Superfun, you could try... you know... not being the sort of player everyone wants to put in Donkey Town. I'm pretty sure it would take less effort than improving your bot. You might be surprised at how fun it can be.
So glad to hear this! Thank you Jason!
im not fully sure but it might be the kid who quits after a bit of time so it can make sure it reconnects to next life, i had it a few times
I've heard this referenced a few times, do you mean suiciding kids? Because I get those a lot. Is there something specific about the kid that makes this one different?
Thank you, Jason!
Guys, dogs is a bad idea at this stage. They can be bred like mad, when you get a pitbull it'll attack and kill everyone, and it ruins lots of towns.
There needs to be a way to kill excess dogs. And pitbulls shouldn't just randomly attack everyone. Now the appearance of a pitbull makes everyone freak out and we're trying to find the bow and arrow to shoot the darned thing.
Someone noted that dogs and bears cancel each other out. Does anyone know what happens if a pit bull encounters a bear? Because that might be useful.
Responsible dog breeding suggestions: Breed them outside of town, don't bring them in. Have a bow and arrow readily available for pitbulls. And if you see any little twerp taking too much mutton over to the dogs, stab them.
Dogs might just be the new easiest way to grief advanced towns. They need to be nerfed.
I was the one warning that the Pupocalypse is upon us. Seriously, South town is for the dogs now. Dogs are the newest way to grief towns. You heard it here first.
They need to be able to be dispatched or the whole planet will be overrun.

Thats where I stop reading your post and brand you as a retard.
Well, that's the great thing about the game, we can all make choices, and they play out for good or ill. I chose to let my mom play "cursed person who reformed to become good mom" and I ended up with a key to a house with lots of resources, which became critical later in that game, and my lineage was the only one that made it in that town. Betsy killed my mom and got killed for her trouble. Whose strategy worked out? Is the hero the one who kills the griefer or the one who outlives her to revitalize the town? Neither strategy is invalid.
If it was a cursed kid, I wouldn't let it live. I figured that if I got on my mom's good side, she might give me the key to her nice house with lots of food and useful equipment. That was better than her hiding it and me having to spend my whole life trying to make new keys. Betsy meant well, but got killed because she wasn't smart enough to wait until there were no witnesses.
I was born in a big town with a road. The first thing I noticed was that my mom, Bear IV, had black text. She picked me up and ran into a locked building. She told me that there were too many knives in the town and people were killing everyone, but we were safe. I asked, "Y cursed?" and she said it's because she killed griefers. I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. When I was a toddler, she ran me north to a safe place at the end of the road, where I milked cows and tended the berries for a while until I had my own daughter, who I named Betsy. At that point I noticed my mom forgot to name me, oh well. Right after I had my second daughter, Amy, my mom came back and Betsy went nuts when she saw my mom's black text. I said, "It's ok, she's not bad." Mom tried to tell her too, even gave her clothes and a pack. But Betsy got a knife somehow and killed my mom. A guy in the town saw it and killed Betsy. My mom gave me the key to her house with her dying breath.
Eventually, griefers killed whoever didn't die of old age, and I think when I died it was pretty much me and my lineage left. I had IRL stuff at 53 years of age, so I had to starve away. It was an interesting life. And it turns out that my lineage continued for a while.
Two playthroughs today ended the same way: Mom died or got too old, and there was only surviving boys. I was young both times, but there is just no point to finishing the life when there are no girls. If we knew there was a way to get an Eve to our camp, that would definitely make it worth it to attempt to continue the playthrough to try to call an Eve.
Maybe the summoned Eve could spawn as an infant, meaning that the males will have to find a way to keep her alive, and she would have the last name of the male who summoned her? It just seems like there needs to be something to make it worthwhile for solo males to keep going.
If that town is still alive, they should make a bell. Call other tutorial people and let them know it exists.
I wanted nothing more than a sandbox where I could build in peace, undisturbed by tiny players screaming "F" and toddlers taking my sharp stone every time I turned my back. I found myself in a utopian space, surrounded by everything I would need to craft in peace. I quickly set up my kiln and fire, and snared some rabbits. I picked milkweed whether it was fruiting or not, knowing that no future generations depended on my responsibly using the resources. I got my forge going, but I started feeling uneasy. I realized I liked the challenge of raising a girl who would survive to continue the lineage another generation. And boys are so helpful once they're big enough to carry a basket. I dismissed the unwelcome thoughts and began to set up to start forging the iron that was just laying there.
Suddenly--another person! She cut down the tree keeping me in my sandbox, took one of my snared rabbits (which I figured was fair payment) and was on her way before I could say anything. I ran north after her, amazed that there were other people here. She cut another person's tree, and I went inside. "Hi!" I exclaimed. "What?!? I thought I was the only one here." "I thought so too!" "This is so weird!" "I know!"
I asked, "Are you new?" She replied, "No, but it's been a few months." I said, "Want to build something amazing together?" We agreed to combine our efforts and started up a kiln and forging in her sandbox. But she went away and didn't come back. Did she succumb to the snakes? I stood there, suddenly feeling the meaninglessness of my efforts. There would be no daughter spawning to use everything I'd crafted. I even began to miss the annoying kids who took my tools.
I suicided and started playing the real game.
I have been playing a few weeks and it's a really unique game!
I was trapping rabbits today and had a son. As soon as he was old enough to walk, he put a snare over a rabbit with no baby! I was able to tell him why that's a bad idea, but couldn't unsnare the hole, and now there's a dead hole. It wasn't super obvious to me as a new player that milkweed should only be picked at fruiting, etc.
Maybe don't even spell it out all the way, but make it clear that certain things could burn out a whole area. I try to teach my kids but sometimes I don't realize what they don't know.
